Re: Cosplay!
I found this on wikihow and this other one on About with the pattern. I hope they help.
Also for those interested, here's the Some of NZ Anime Expo pics I've uploaded

Re: Cosplay!
Thanks. I just don't know what to use, because I want a certian kind... I don't know what works and what doesn't, because I only have so much fabric.
Re: Cosplay!

Most kitty hats I've seen use polarfleece-type fabrics, though you could probably use a sturdy cotton. or something lighter. I haven't made one myself but I'm planning on doing so eventually. (They're anywhere between $25-$40 at conventions I've been to)
Also found this article about NZAE
And the video on here shows a wee bit of my skit
Re: Cosplay!
I have Cosplayed Neji from Naruto and in 3 weeks I am going into the centre of a city near me with some friends and I am going as Orochimaru. I will post some pictures.

Re: Cosplay!
Hey, has anyone ever had to do a skit? Because I didn't know you had to do one until 5 minutes before the cosplay competetion. Needless to say I didn't win.
Moral being that you should bring your iPod, when in doubt lipsync to the anime's themesong. Or you could write a skit on the spot, which isn't that hard. If it's a well known character that at least one of the judges will recognise, then you can say a monologue derived from the manga/anime.
So, I don't know when, but for the next cosplay contest/con, I will be going as L from Death Note! I've almost got his character down... I just need a place where I can put a LOT of candy for the day. ;D

Re: Cosplay!
I usually do a skit as part of my cosplay contest entries. It's optional here, because some contestants aren't comfortable with performing on stage and it would take ages if everyone did one.
And ooooh L, a couple of years back, a cosplayer's skit for L consisted of him sitting like L eating lollipops and chocolate for the duration of the skit.

Re: Cosplay!
I never done one, but hopefully down the road ill attend one. But if I did /goto one it I would be Pain/Nagato from Naruto.

Re: Cosplay!
Cosplaying as Yowane Haku. I'm not allowed to show my face, but I like it. :D yes, that is duct tape. I still need a white wig, though...
Re: Cosplay!
Nice!
Duct tape & safety pins are cosplayer's best friends.
I really have to start on my Armageddon cosplays: my AQW character and Jazz from TFA (if I can afford to build it) as well as decide on who I'll cosplay as for NZAE.

Re: Cosplay!
That sounds awesome!
I tried sewing today.
Let's just say that- even though all my fingers are intact, it wasn't pretty- Long story short, we need to go to the sewing store tomorrow and get some new needles.
And some new fabric.
And maybe a new sewing machine.

Re: Cosplay!
oh lol.
I've broken plenty of needles, mostly from using the wrong stitch length or on fabric (faux fur) that's too thick. And don't get me started on sewing machines (I'm pretty sure the school ones were still under warranty)
I need to stop by a foam store sometime to pick up foam skin, the hardware store for heaps of spraypaint, and check out some fabric shops for white lycra. I picked up 3 meters of black for part of my Jazz outfit for NZ$9 (normally around NZ$25-30 per meter) but I need white so I can get on with it.
I'm still tossing up whether I wanna wire up some functional head and tail lights for effect.

Re: Cosplay!
Well, there aren't that many cosplay opportunities here... Lets just say I post them on FB and they never get worn again... :'(
Re: Cosplay!
This year I plan on going on G1 Starscream (surprise surprise) I saw this picture on cosplay lab
Only problem is, I've called lincraft and other fabric stores and no one seems to stock 'block' spandex or other fabbrics I can use so if anyone know what I can use please tell meh. Oh and Cardboard isn't really an option. Anyway I'm hoping once I find the materials it'll be ready by Supanova.

Also, I went to the salvation army today and got a blazer for my next cosplay idea. What. :)

Re: Cosplay!
Acquired some white lycra and a black wetsuit for my TFA Jazz cosplay in the last week or so. I figure it's easier sewing panels onto the wetsuit than making the entire outfit from scratch.
Still have to get foamskin, spraypaint and things for making the face/head and nunchucks.

Re: Cosplay!
I got some foamskin but now the convention I was planning on going to has been postponed until further notice.
Next convention I could attend and cosplay at is in June. But I probably won't be able to transport my TF costume down (since I have to travel on a bus for 5 hours and there's limited luggage space) so I may cosplay as Nefer-Tina from Mummies Alive instead.
