Avatar Reminder!
Hello everyone! I've been seeing some ridiculously sized avatars lately.
I'd just like to remind everyone that they shouldn't exceed 200 x 200 pixels in width; and even those dimensions are fairly generous. Avatars are okay if they exceed the dimensions in height slightly, but not in width (I'm setting a rough limit of 250-300 forverticlevertical height). Note that you don't have to have a round avatar. Here's a few tips on resizing/making new avatars in the future:
-Avoid excessive glows, blurs, or filters. This may seem obvious, but sometimes an avatar can be drastically reduced in size if glows/blurs are refined, or replaced with outlines. Here's a good example of an avatarboarderborder:
(Avatar by Peregrine; Requested by Veonyx.)
-Crop, don't resize. Resizing large avatars can often lead to pseudo-blurry images. Instead, consider doing an circular crop to them.
Keep it enclosed. While sprites sticking out might look cool, excessive use of this method can often result in a bulky avatar. Consider revising if this is the case.
Was your avatar made in Flash? You're in luck. Flash files are vector-based, meaning they can be scaled to any size within Flash without loss of quality. Simply open them in Flash and resize accordingly.
That is all. Thank you! If your avatar does exceed this limit, revise ASAP.

You don't have to have a round avatar; But just make sure your width/height doesn't exceed that.
Re: Avatar Reminder!
Is mine fine? I don't think that the little flame exceeds the limit, does it?

Re: Avatar Reminder!
V you could edit the Avi size to make SURE we don't go above that (Yes It's possible, Heck I'll do it for you if you need)

And most forum softwares can resize them, anyway.Thoru wrote:V you could edit the Avi size to make SURE we don't go above that (Yes It's possible, Heck I'll do it for you if you need)
Also:
Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width cannot exceed 150 pixels, the height cannot exceed 200 pixels, and the file size cannot be higher than 64 KB.
...Shouldn't that mean it has a limit or is there like a bug in there.

Re: Avatar Reminder!
Oh man, I'm in for this pretty bad.
I don't see how I will change some of my requested avatars, seeming some of them I didn't save a psd. :L
But Vamp, shouldn't exceeding the height be okay?
Seeming as it would only push down the zard information, and the signature space should cover up for that length?
(Unless it is ridiculously high!)

Hey Kao,
Two things:
You can still crop/transform flattened images. Just use elipse selections or regular selections with a feather.
And you have a good point aboutVerticleVertical Avatars. I'll fix that now.

Re: Avatar Reminder!
Well I think that the height of avatars should still be 200. Because if a person has a short post, then the avatar will extend the post still. For example, see Flawsie's post up there. ^
