A light inside the darkness
A light inside the darkness
Her screams filled the night air with violent noise
I regretted this night like no other
I was the love killing monster that destroys
We once, long ago, did love one another
This night though, I didn't feel the least bit sane
Her shallow breaths, and quivering hands
Were solid proof that she wasn't to blame
The fear in her eyes was my solid command
In my shock back into reality
I dropped the knife, my breath as shallow as hers
I looked at the remains of my brutality
My memories of her flash back in blurs
I fell to my shaking knees, what have I done?
A life of pure agony and guilt is now to come
It ran right through where I was born
It defined our heartless town
Nothing special, just a river
But at least we knew it was there
The schools told us it was polluted
We loved the river still
Though it was clear no more
But at least we knew it was there
We couldn't wait to leave
To pack our bags and leave that town
But even as we sat alone
We knew the river was there
Whenever we'd come back
We'd go and see the river
We watched it dry up, year by year
But at least we knew it was there
We all moved on, away from there
We forgot the about that town
I came back last year...
And the river was gone
I sat on the bank
And stared at the sky
And all I could feel was empty
The river doesn't flow through that town
Any more
But who are left to help him now
Alone he sits and waits for love
A love destroyed with bitter tears
He lives alone with all his fears
But still he holds his secret place
And none shall see his state of grace
The love he has will live for long
But man will hear no loving song
Of love he sings and treasured gifts
Of light he brings and many things
But listen now and breathe you not
Gone he is but not forgot
(This is still a work-in-progress, I doubt I'll get around to finishing it though)
More coming soon!

Re: A light inside the darkness
They say that words paint a picture
In the corner of someone's mind
They can only see what you show them
It isn't something one can find
A kind word brings about a soft blue
In a mild, sweeping stroke
It's up to you to decide your colors
And the feelings that they evoke
Some shades and hues can be tainted
Vibrant red, darkened by rage
You have a single chance to paint your image
One blank canvas; a single page
But you cannot have a monotone
Because feelings are intertwined
So what picture will you paint
In the corner of someones mind?
In the corner of someone's mind
They can only see what you show them
It isn't something one can find
A kind word brings about a soft blue

Re: A light inside the darkness
A special world for you and me
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb
Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast
Bonds like this are meant to last
And though at times a thread may break
A new one forms in its wake
To bind us closer and keep us strong
In a special world, where we belong
A special bond one cannot see
It wraps us up in its cocoon
And holds us fiercely in its womb
Its fingers spread like fine spun gold
Gently nestling us to the fold
Like silken thread it holds us fast

Re: A light inside the darkness
Breathe in. Breathe out.
The door hisses open, I stumble into the light.
Bright light. Door closes.
'Right where we want you,' the voice says.
I know it. I'm finished.
The voice has been controlling me.
Always. Forever.
I know it's smiling, yet I see no face.
Hidden. Shadowed.
I feel the hands grab my throat.
Choking me. Burning me.
'We've got you now!' the voice it crows.
Triumphant. It's won.
'NO!' I cry out in agony.
Unheard. Ignored.
'Did you really think you could evade us forever?'
Futile. Pointless.
I feel the hands grasp at my throat.
Strangling. Unbreakable.
'DID YOU REALLY THINK YOU WERE GOOD ENOUGH?'
Questioning. Taunting.
And then they let me fall to the ground.
Exhausted. Finished.
