OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
1: Do not post off topic on a roleplay. Stay ON TOPIC and please read it atleast 2 pages back/from the beggining.
2: Be respectful to other Roleplayers on the board!
3: No killing characters on Roleplays without permission from character owner.
4: ADMIN HAS THE FINAL SAY.
5: Follow the universal forum rules.
6: One Board per user. If you want a different subject, let me know and I'll rename the board.
IN DEPTH KILLING RULES:
Killing characters out of spite, malice, petty differences, or to spam is prohibited and will be reviewed on a case by case basis. The only exception to the rule is when the death is justified in its importance in the story, where it serves to:
A) Further a plot point established in the story.
B) Create a sense of finality in character development.
C) Represent the result of an encounter that has significant meaning.
D) Create dramatic tension and effect.
Remember, in the world of fiction, death is never final until the story is at an end. If the owner of the character wishes to use that character again, there are ways to reverse his/her demise.
Thank you to Ragegamer

Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
Is there any specific name that you have to give your RP?

Ragegamer wrote:And lastly, although it is against the rules (currently) to kill off characters in the story, I am willingly going to ignore that rule if I have to, at my own discretion. Call it defiance, if you will. This is because, proven countless times by other stories (and games for the matter), that some deaths are needed for dramatic effect. Besides, I've also shown that death is reversible. I mean, look at Ryzaa, for crying out loud!
I posted the above in PK's Adventure thread.
Anyways, my point in this is to request the following change in detail to the death rule:

@Caeel: The rules do not mention anything about a specific name. I assume that means you have free choice in the matter, as long you only have one topic you authored.

(adding on to this): Or if the character is not an actual person who is being played by one of the RPers, like an adventurer that someone meets on the way to somewhere (although you might make it so that only the person who came up with that extra char could kill him/her)
My own ideas: well, there's nothing about this so I put it in my RP, and I also think it should be made optional:
People can make there own special rules for there RPs, as long as there not ridiculous, and also, the RP maker should be allowed to govern there own RP (at least partially), like giving permission for people to allow certain things to happen, or making the plot/environment sometimes.
Also, as mentioned above there should be minor/player controlled characters that aren't the characters themselves (like some random rouge who helps you on a journey then turns out to be a villain), I'm sure there are some of these, but there's nothing in the rules about them...

Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
Look, my last post on the topic of death was meant to create a little more wiggle room for writers in the rp threads. As it stands currently, we would have to ask permission for EVERY death in the story. Now, don't get me wrong, I usually notify my intents beforehand. However, death is an integral part of any storytelling that focuses on heroics and epic encounters.
That being said, I don't want to see any more rules that could impede on an rp. It's unproductive and could severely cripple the whole point of the story: creative input.
I think the best idea for individual threads would be to respect other writers wishes when written in a comment. However, at times, the writer also needs to realize that the rp is open to the public, so restrictions could drive away potential input.
By no means do I wish this post to be offending. Please realize that.

Rules updated a bit. Thanks Rage, you've obviously put some thought into this as I didn't really have to make any changes in your post.

Wait... your the artist, not the RP mod...
~Insane Artist~
I'm both, ask Vamp, if you check under legend who Mods are It comes up with me (only blue name).
So just to clear that up, I AM RP mod and some people know I like reading, and seeing as I'm out of books I might just check the RP thread a lot more than most.
~Enraged~
Same goes for me.

Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
After having spend the last months on a few german servers, some RP forums etc. I need to ask one more thing about death:
Currently, its impossible to simply have an RP duel to the death without asking first? The idea is to have a physically logical duel (if magic isn't involved), with both players NOT powerplaying, checking fatigue etc. of their character until finally, one of the RPers admits defeat
Example:
if someone has been thrown to the ground and a dagger is racing towards his throat, its pretty much impossible to 100% evade the blow. Thus, perhaps a bleeding commences. Later on, thanks to blood loss, that character weakens. No time for bandages, nothing to stop it etc, his reflexes weaken, another strike against him etc. All these factors add up to "HES THE LOSER". Thus, the character is either able to flee (logically) or die.
In the end, the one that manages to play his character the most skilfull wins

Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
Duels were not covered in the rules because we simply have never encountered the need to have them stated. Usually, the rule of thumb is to ask the other person (or to challenge, if you incline to call it that) to take part in the duel with their character. Of course, if you're using your own characters, you don't have to do such a check. This is to avoid any potential disagreements and bad blood that might occure if you, quite literally, drag their character through the mud and defame them utterly and completely.
So, the most logical rules are:
1. Players of a duel RP can limit themselves to being the only ones allowed to post in said RP so long as they are the only ones that are going to be involved and don't drag other established characters in without the original owner's permission.
2. If you want to use someone else's character in your duel RP, you have to at least notify them that they will be included. At that point, if the other person so chooses, they can back out and decided to not engage in said duel RP.
3. Original Characters created by participants of a duel RP can be used in any way that the owner sees fit.
4. Death in the duel RP still needs to use the RP Death Rules as a guideline. Treat the other participants character with respect as you would have them treat yours.
5. Players have the option to post their own versions of a scenario or battle, which can be decided upon by either an appointed judge of the current duel RP or voted upon by the community of TR in the RP Discussion Forum (still pending).
Go ahead, invite someone to have a cage match with you! The RP Forum needs more activity anyways. ^.~

Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
I usually went with number 5, posted the entire thread up in some place and had it judged by judge or vote

Well, seeing as Vamp is no longer "admin", but "FishOverlord" who has the final say now? :P

FOI? Who is this FOI you speak of >.>
The RP section is starting to lose activeness. We need a mass thing that we can all get involved with ._.

Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
In that case, create a part of the forum for RP dueling. Just match-making etc. judging in a different part and so on and so on and 1337 uber roxors boxors FTW!

Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
What exactly are the rules on multiple RP's going at once? I'd like to understand the finer points of this before I start in on anything; meaning, there may or may not be an RP hosted by yours truly in the near future.

Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
If you are a approved writer you can start an RP, but only start as much as you can handle (preferably just the one).
Re: OFFICIAL Roleplay Rules V1.0
I see... well the rules are pretty straight forward then.
