Ok, so this thought popped into my head the other day while I was taking a screenie in the intro cutscene. So, I went into Microsoft Paint (Dear god...) and got to work.

It's one of the first things I learned how to do on Photoshop; there's an "Opacity" setting for every layer. I think the ghost is at about 33% opacity.

See, first I cut the character out of a DF screenshot. Then I had it in its own document and its own layer. So I selected just the character and put a semitransparent blue layer over it, and then I had my pretty blue ghost sprite.
