To all Graphic Artists

This is a note to all Graphic Artists: (Hand Drawn, Flash, PS, PP, or anything else.)

I've been seeing a lot of Graphics that have clashing colors. Their Great graphics- let me tell you- but I think I've found why their not so Eye-Pleasing. They've got colors- Many Colors- and most don't match. I've made a color wheel to help you out with this. I'm not saying your stupid- I'm not saying you need to use it- But It'll make most people's pictures a lot better.

As You can see, (Or not, I didn't label it.) There are 12 colors. The 3 Primary, (Red, Blue, Yellow. (The Yellow one has the darkest background. Count 4 from there to get Red, 4 more to get blue.)) These are the colors that make up the rest of the colors. Not really well demonstrated, seeing as in the program I'm currently using you can't 'blend' things. But you can see where I'm going. Green is a mixture of Blue and Yellow, Purple is a mixture of Blue and Red, and Orange is a mix of Red and Yellow. The one between Orange and red is called "Red Orange", the one between Purple and Blue is called "Blue Purple", and so on.

So, hopefully, this is all review. What I'm trying to say here is that You need to look at the colors your using- Not say "Oh, blue text looks nice... I'll make it blue." then say a few minutes later, "I'll make an Orange Red background! It doesn't look very good- The colors clash, making it hard to read. If your going to clash colors, also please refrain from using patterns, no matter how cool they look. As you can see, (By Examples below) They are much more eye-pleasing if you use the same, or close, colors.

As you can see, (Hopefully!) The ones at the bottom are getting progressively easier to read. Please keep these tips in mind as you Draw/Paint/Color/PhotoShop/whateverurdoin!

Sound advice, Winnie. I hope people will take that. And I'm not sure, but what Jetwing may have been saying is that he uses GIMP. I dunno, but I"m glad you posted this!

As agreed, good tip, although half of those things can be fixed by a nice good old 'stroke' from PS, usually a black one helps

No. Yellow has a pure black background, blue's is 90% black. Don't go telling me to learn my colors.

Might want to include some information on colour opposites while you'rer at it and make this into a full fleged guide.
