1. Well, you have the basic idea down, but how about adding some outer glow or inner glow to it? And the "Alderos" part is a bit too faint, and the font choice is a bit odd. Other than that, the first image is awesome.

2. Second image, possible make the the stars a little less blurred, to give the picture a little more balance. I would also add more color to the center vortex, and blend that in with the center sphere.

Eh, since no one posts in the gallery, I'll post this here hoping for some kind of comments on it.
Just putting it out there, I only used one texture for the planets, which is why the two look so similar.
Remember to Right Click - View Image otherwise chances are you won't see the entire image.
