Moving Points To The Forums

Hey everyone! It seems that of late, the TR Cons have been giving more than 25,000 points a Con. Now that just seems like a lot, and especially for just a single Con. Now it would be quite easy to move some point related things to the forums from the Cons (like the game show, it could be held in the Chat Box where everyone could have a chance). We could also get some new things on to the forums, like this idea I came up with:

I also think it would be nice to lower the amount of points from the Con, to make the people who can't make it/get kicked out feel better. Also, what's the deal with making room for the people who have been here for a while, it just makes it so they can never get in to the Cons.

I agree with having some more forum competitions, but holding contests in the chatbox is pretty much the same as doing it over AQW, making that pointless.

Yes, we do, but even so, would you rather do it there or here? We at least eliminate one out of two problem in the Chat Box.

I think maybe we should have a mod watch, or something, not always just a video, or picture, so that those without ability to take screenies or shoot videos can still compete. Achievements could be a thing. We could have a giant achievement page, where member names under completed achievements can be listed, and points can be awarded for them. Days for people to attempt an achievement could also be set, so that many people could try and make it less hectic, and random.

This seems like a lot of work for mods/admins. The way I see it, we could have more forum events(like we have had before), and just wait until we can fix the timezone for cons problems. Sorry, gonna give this a no. ;(

Perhaps over-time contests?
This would get rid of the time zone problem, and there wouldn't be as much work for mods.
Could be art, story-telling anything.

Maybe new mods for the specific idea Charon? If that doesn't work for you, I guess there is not a way to convince.

Yeah, as seen in the spoiler i put up, there could be over time contests, or contests randomly put up, giving everyone a chance.

Well, before, we have had contests such as art, coloring, writing, etc. I'll talk to vamp and see if we can get any more of those up for you guys. ^^

... We have one contest... And it finished ages ago :/ I think we should have more contests, and a contest mod team or admin. They can assign points to contests and are responsible for making sure that the contests are fair and well organized... I also want to be part of that team :P I have ideas too you know... You know... The comic? And the Bounty wall thing too.

Psst, you still need to put up the results of your Pink is the new Black contest. :p

Well, I am pretty sure we have enough mods to pull that off without adding more mods, it just seems like more trouble than it's worth to me. Don't worry, I told Vamp about you guys wanting more forums contests, and we shall be bringing them out ASAP. ^^

Also, Caeel, while it's wonderful that you want to help and we appreciate it, you should probably refrain from asking to be a mod.

Well Charon, I believe we should then start some suggestions of contests then, if this is wrapped up.

Maybe we could make more monthly contests, like every month hold a most posts, or most active in chatbox, writing contest, etc.

But will there be differnt contests because it can get repeative over time. Plus some people can't make videos. Will you also have a spot where you can submit it? Plus for the Noob hunt how will we calculate exactly 1 min.. It seems like alot of work for mods.

We will have Different ones to keep things new and exciting, of course. Idk how often new ones will come out or how long they will last yet, but I'll be sure to keep you posted. And sure, please do suggest forum contests now, but why not make a general thread for it?

A) As to the achievement idea, UR has already done that.
B) Yeah, there's a load of points at every con, and the events there are just rubbish.

The race I can win every single time. Why? Because my internet connection is FAST. Its not about how quick you click, or if you attack the enemies to move faster, its about turning quality to LOW and closing all downloads.

Can't there be something a bit more inspiring? Art contests that actually give points to those who want them? VIDEO contests, AUDIO (remixes or original songs)contests, PHOTOGRAPHY contests (Its a beautiful thing).

C) I still don't see why everyone wants points. whats a color and a small line of text?

The TROCT is being made, I'm guessing if the music building gets made for the art village then there will be a competition for it. Photography sounds like a good idea. Video? Could work.

Aside from that, though.
We have had Art Contests before, and will continue to in future, I am sure. As to Video and Audio contests, not everyone has the programs to enter them, so I dont think there would be very many entries, making the contest itself sort of pointless. If we could find out who does have the programs and would want to enter such a contest and if there are enough people, I'm certain that there would be a large possibility of that contest being made.

So you see, its not a matter of us just not having 'inspiring' contests. Its all a matter of having enough people to participate in them.

Photography, though... sounds great to me.

Also, points are meaningful to some people, and not so much to others. The desire for a custom color name, rank, etc. is just people wanting to display their originality. ^^

Yes,that might be a good thing, but will you have a seperate thread to post in? Im not agenst the idea though.

I think as far as audio goes, audacity is a free audio program that really can do a lot. And for the linux users theres a few freeware clones of sony vegas. But agreed, video might be a problem. But audio? Really?
