Cheering up thread Empty Cheering up thread

Post by Wixmagic Thu Feb 04, 2010 3:45 am

It has recently come to my attention that many people may be depressed, on the surface or deep down, so I made this. Basically anybody who is feeling depressed or just down on their luck can post on here and people can try to cheer them up, maybe with some advice a song some comedy, anything to try and cheer people up, and finally what happens in this thread STAYS in this thread, kinda like group therapy. ._.

I have to admit that I don't regret any of the things I have done. And even though some of my friends has tried to help me, it has never worked.
I don't want any tries to make me happy, no tries, but solutions.

The long story? Well, I could write it if it's needed...

If you make yourself no more do problems move aside
if you take a sharp knife, try to end your strife, do they move aside
If problems aren't life's test, and just a pest, would they move aside
no...

If you change your attitude and so something about it, you can push through
and if you push through look what you can do, a new world will take you
one of possibilities and understanding
one just right and not demanding
though problems will meet you on this path
make them taste your fiery wrath
move the problems aside and wait for the strength to fight against their tide

so the moral is what ever meaning you can extract, I was going for the more problems you get rid of the easier it gets.

....sorry, but I don't exactly see the point of this thread. Call it group therapy and "what stays in the thread" and all that, its still on the interwebs, its still people you don't know or can trust, so I doubt that anyone with serious trouble will come here. And "try to cheer somebody up"...
Can that really be done in text?

I'm just saying that it might only cast them into deeper depression, when they realize they just wrote their problems to the interwebs. No, ofc it isn't

Well, Im pretty negative towards deppresed people and emos. Most of the time they are ''Depressed'' for no reason. Still, I'm going to be open minded and have decided to narrow this negativity to a specific category.

If you are Depressed about:
Death
Hunger
Tiredness
Poverty
World Issues (the above happening to other people, global warming, etc)
Girls/Guy Problems (Puberty)
Boyfirend/Girlfriend Problems
Or School
Generally any REAL reason to be upset.
Then you are ok and have my condolences and support.

If on the other hand you are depressed becaue say.... Your dad wont buy you tickets to a concert or for some other pointless reason.
Then Please go to this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzbxTYAHlEU
This concludes the MrSebi therapy session, thank you for reading and have a nice day.

Post by Chiyuki Fri Feb 05, 2010 6:20 am

I'm not so much depressed...but I had to watch this movie in my spanish class called "Apocalypto" and It's rated R. I've only been watching PG-13 movies since 8th grade and I've never been allowed to watch horror movies. There were some really violent and scary parts that have pretty much traumatized me and I'm still pretty unnerved about it. I know to a lot of people this doesn't seem like a big deal and a 16 year old getting freaked out over a little gore is dumb. But it looked real to me...and I'm scared. I know I'm going to have nightmares.

So if anyone has some advice for calming nerves it would be much appreciated ^^.

Well calm sounds e.g a waterfall, rainforest etc always helps, maybe just going to sleep will help, as having the nightmare may help you get over it :) possibly just some laughs will make you forget. Other than that I have no advice for you right now

Cheering up thread Empty Re: Cheering up thread

Post by Erik Fri Feb 05, 2010 7:31 am

I think there is a thread about this already, back somewhere on the second page of threads. I will check that.

But anyway, I was depressed for a while, you start to think your life sucks and has not meaning, I went through it. But sometime you figure out, wow, life has meaning! You realize that you affect people's lives, and you have to start looking for the answer, not examining the problem for hours and hours, and telling yourself how bad you feel. It is a normal stage in everyone's lives. We just need to learn how to get through it without taking anything to drastic measures.

This may not be the same thing, but this was posted by Pooks a long time ago.

Yeh, everyone gets depressed at some point. I just go to sleep when it happens, then it goes away pretty fast.

I have had nightmares for approximately 2 years when I watched the japanese version of the ring (american wasn't that bad, not that much of a thriller). Found out its easy to just pretend you have something that keeps whatever you fear of that movie away, pretend its some kind of charm.

I think this video works for anyone who has seen Rent the Movie, and is depressed.

Also, if you try talking to Cleverbot, it usually knows how to cheer you up. It's creepy.

Well, I can get freaked sometimes, in horror movies, I normally partially close my ears so I don't get scared by the huge sound effects of the person coming up from behind and attacking you.

When I was younger, I figured out something like what DC did. When something bad comes into my mind, dream or no dream, I imagine something getting rid of it or destroying it.
