TRE: What is a round?
Rounds
What's this?
One round on the forum is one complete revolution.
It's exactly like a normal board game, like Monopoly. If you have say, three players, then your next action on the game it will be entered into a turn.
Example: Three characters meet on the game
You (figure 1): post your arrival on the game
Ronald (figure 2): replied
Mark (character 3): replies
Now it's your turn to answer. Between your arrival and post it has passed one round.
What's the significance?
All spells in TRE will have a casting time, a duration, and possibly a cool-down.
Example:
Level 15 Fireblast
Casting Time: 2 rounds
Spell duration: 1 round
Cool-down: 4 rounds
You will be required to wait out the entire time mentioned in the casting, or if the spell ends, it counts as one round.
During the rounds of preparation, the mage or priest, or such should be concentrated to successfully launch the spell. If during this time the caster attacks with anything else, or breaks concentration, the spell will be a failure.
Example: A battle is engaged between 'you' and Ronald
You: You begin trying to cast the Mage spell Level 4 'entangle'. It takes two rounds of preparation. You begin to charge your spell.
Ronald: Ronald lunges forward with his sword. If he hits you, you will take damage. You cannot break your focus due to the spell.
When casting spells, you are defenseless. However, depending upon your level, the wait may be well worth it.
When a spell is rated:
Casting Time: Instant
The spell will take the form of half a round. This means that in your post, you could cast a second 'instant' spell or do another action equivalent to a half-round (ex: jump back, attack with bare hands if you have no weapon in hand)
Fighting:
Half round attacks:
-Draw your weapon.
-Sheath your weapon
- Reload
- Single attack
- Instant spells
One round attack:
-Special Attacks
-Charging a crossbow
-Cast a spell (Or longer, depending. See above)
If you draw your weapon and attack in the same round there is no possibility to parry.
If your weapon is drawn, you can make a simple attack and have the possibility to parry, or counter.
If you are a character with a special attack, your weapon must be drawn in order to do so.
