Ohkay, so at first I was all "Okay, this game is SOOOO GIMICK-Y."
Then I saw the 3DS demo. Oh...My...God...YES.
Save two characters for the go? Yes please. Collect action figures that I can take with my stats to my friend's houses? Count me in. Gorgeous 3D 3D platforming? 30-something characters to choose from? October 16th can't come soon enough.

Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
Nice little gimmick to hide the most expensive looking DLC possible consisting of little memory sticks.
Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
I like figurines: no problems here.
Point is though: they are doing something different, and while its a ripoff, it's kinda cool.

Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
I don't really think it's that much of a ripoff. I think it allows gamers to actually be proud of what they do and play, and sometimes get emotionally attached.
For example, say I also get the Wii version, and I use Dark Spyro on my 3DS and I get him leveled up, etc. Then I go on the Wii version and play as him (cross-platform games are cool) and as he nearly dies, I might snatch him off of the little pedestal to stop him from dying.
It's really cool the way it works with your mind. That character is YOURS, not anyone else's, and you went on many adventures with him and fought many enemies with him. It's no longer a toy, it's an extension of yourself.

Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
In general I hate to agree with most people on this site, cause face it: you are all trolls.
That said, I agree with you completely. When I was younger I had a habit of getting really attached to toys or game characters, over time this sorta... regressed. (for example, losing my Pokemon diamond and my Blaziken I started Ruby with would have caused a heart attack, now I was ''meh'').
It would be nice to be able to bring that aspect of my childhood years back, I just hope the figures are non region locked. (So I can use em on my European PS3, then swap over to my american 3DS) I know the games are region locked, but it would be tricky to do that with the figures right?

Re: Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
I'm pretty sure the figurines work like memory cards, so they probably won't be region locked.
