Dorf Fort: Save Christmas Edition.
It's time for a crazy challenge that no one at all will do! BUT WHATEVER WE'LL DO IT ANYWAY, JUST LIKE ALL OF TOM'S TOURNAMENTS THAT ARE CANCELLED!
The deal with this challenge is pretty simple.
- Get Dwarf Fortress.
- No mods, vanilla DF only.
- Generate a world on it. You pick what size of a world you want and how long history should be generated(although I would suggest you use a Medium sized world and like 200-300 years of history to keep the savefile from bloating up like hell).
- Start Playing and ADVENTURER MODE ACTIVATE!
- Save Christmas from the forces of evil.
Rules of Saving Christmas are as follows:
- Make yourself as an Adventurer to the best you can, with the possible stats available(skills, physical and mental traits).
- The good season of cheer and joy is threatened by all the evil in the world, and you're the only one who can put a stop to their evil plans.
- Go crazy. You can pick yourself how to save Christmas.
Optional things are along the lines of:
- You can adjust the numbers of megabeasts in the worldgen settings to your liking.
- Elf, dwarf and goblin sites do not exist in Adventurer mode at the time being. Feel free to hit entity_default.txt and change their DEFAULT_SITE_TYPE to CITY to have 'em exist. Possibly for you to torment as well.
- Pick whatever race you deem best to represent yourself. Those who want to be a kobold or a goblin, add the INDIV_CONTROLLABLE tag under their mentions in entity_default.txt.
- Oh and those that would like to play as a goblin AND not get shanked the moment you hit your hometown and talk to people, remove the LOCAL_BANDITRY tag from the entity_default file. Same for kobolds.
For the newbies(or Monu) among us, here's the Adventurer Mode Wiki-page on MagmaWiki. It tells you pretty well how the mode works, but if you have played any roguelike dungeoncrawler in the past, then there's very little new to confuzzle you.
This crazy challenge ends the day after Christmas, obviously. Assuming anyone joins in, the person with the biggest merit list and/or craziest feats of adventure is declared the Ultimate Champion of Christmas. Which is obviously a big thing.
You wouldn't want to ruin Christmas, right? Let's just say this thread is an acceptable place to tell all about your misadventures. Although with all you low-tier scrubs around here, there probably won't be anyone posting because no one's participating.

Here's the list of graphic packs, right out of the forum!
Phoebus
Beefmo
Chariot
Ironhand
Mayday
CLA
Note that not all of these are up-to-date, and I have no idea if it actually affects anything, really. Go test it out.

Congrats, you are now eligible to make graphics for Nukia. Or whatever that program is called again these days.
