Did you stay in the lines while coloring?
This was an interesting topic that started in the coloring contest thread. It's cool to see weather the good artists such as Winnie and Kao used to carefully stay in the lines and doodle on the walls. I'm interested in the results.
As for me, I hated those thick black line's when I was coloring, so I had a habit of writing up my fathers back with markers and pens and pretended I was making "tattoos". XD

Re: Did you stay in the lines while coloring?
Oww, Winnie, thats so evil!!!
And, the only lines i use are in the swords i draw, and sometimes I draw over those lines, sometimes I merge those lines, and sometimes I dont draw over them.. in colouring, of course I stay in the lines, unless I want to make an abstract feel a bout it, or I will go over to merge it with something else.. happy =3?
I also, when was younger, rarely stayed in the lines.. it's not like i couldn't is it xD.. apparently when I was younger, i drew several smily faces with mum's lipstick.. then ate it O.o
Another time, i had a piece of wire at the tennis courts, and i drew a square on one person car, and a square on another O.O
So, I must've been artistic when younger :D

Re: Did you stay in the lines while coloring?
I've always colored in the lines, and then made a background of my own xD
I'm an artist, born and raised.

Well, coloring, I go in the lines, but on Photoshop I get the lines, color them black, try expand the lines then just color justing brush tool.
Re: Did you stay in the lines while coloring?
Colored within the lines? Bah. I make my own lines.
Besides, there ain't no lines in charcoal drawing. Just a bunch of shades...

I recall that I always colored within the lines...
Then embellished the result with the little decorative details I KNEW belonged in the picture that had been left out for some reason.
I actually got in major trouble once, for adding footprints and sled tracks to a color-by-number project in fourth grade. You might say that I was too artistic for the teacher's tastes.

I wish I could show you all the scenic drawings I made but it's hard to get underneath my bed to dig them out and my dad just deep cleaned all our carpeting so the floor is wet. Promise next week I will dig out my drawings and scan them for you all and yes I stayed in the lines while I colored :).

Re: Did you stay in the lines while coloring?
I Totally stayed in the lines... not like I'm a priss, but I've just always wanted things to be perfect, or my way. Such as, when I was in kindergarten, we had "Fun Time" where we could draw or color anything. So once I drew a picture of a kid blowing bubbles... and I spent a whole weeks worth of "Fun Time" Making one bubble.
There were 5 bubbles.
Sometimes I'd take coloring pages and "fix" the problems with them by using a black sharpie. My teacher would always get so mad at me becuase their all s'posed to look the "Same" and I wasn't supposed to have sharpies in kindergarten.
And also, when I was ALSO in kindergarten, we made paper snowflakes. I wanted to have the PERFECT snowflake, and therefore I taped 4 peices of paper together to make a BIIIG snowflake. I made it- it looked great- but it didn't fit on the board with the rest, and it got thrown out...
I also, today, hate hate hate following the rules. It's so terrible- I always want to go and "Fix" those lines that I think are wrong, but they always come out like mush. I really hate my instinct, but it made me a great childhood colorer.

dangit rage you took what I wanted to say :P fooey xD
but in photoshop you have to stay in the lines most of the time...well if you color the way I do you have to or else everything will get flooded with one color...bleeegh
I do sometimes use different layer modes to cheat tho so if i do fall out of line using the paintbrush tool it won't show

Re: Did you stay in the lines while coloring?
I try to stay within the lines on my drawings but because I use watercolour pencils they have a slight tendency to smudge.
Re: Did you stay in the lines while coloring?
I do, almost all the time. I usually use bold lines on solid objects like living things and weapons. Since most of my art is digital, it's easier for me to color according to the lines.
