Such is life.

I seem to have gotten carried away. I guess I just can't handle the fact that Skyrim can win Game of the Year yet I don't love it as much as everyone else.

Too long, didn't read.
Hey guys, I installed HGEC for Oblivion. Google it if you want to know what it is, I'm not gonna talk about it here. ;)

Re: The Elder Scrolls!
Holy crap someone doesn't like a specific game even though a lot of other people do? I've never seen that before.
You know what? I don't like Morrowind. There. That still doesn't make it a bad game, it's an excellent game. I just don't like it. But I don't go and argue with other people how the game is bad because it doesn't suit my tastes.
I do like Oblivion though, and I bet I'd like Skyrim if I played it. I choose to wait for a few more patches though.

Going back to the game of the year thing, I agree with Erik, Skyrim shouldn't win.
Dark Souls should.

Re: The Elder Scrolls!
I honestly don't care whether it wins GOTY or not, I'm only planning on buying the version that has everything included.
Every year, people make such a big deal about GOTY it gets kinda ridiculous. Sometimes I think some of these awards are only there to serve as an ego-boosts to the fans that bought the winning title so that they can walk home to their friends and family to say "Hey, I made the RIGHT choice with my purchase and you're all a bunch of scrubs for not picking my game". Heck, the marketing departments for these games use these awards as Selling Points so that the consumers don't have to think or research for themselves.
Yes, the developers appreciate that their game gets picked or nominated for GOTY, but most of the artists on the teams generally are satisfied with the thought that they made a great game and are getting their checks in the mail. I'd know, I'm entering that industry!
This whole crap is self-validation for the fans. Self-validation because they wont get it anywhere else.

Re: The Elder Scrolls!
Not so much that in my case Rage, I have both.
I just think Dark Souls was a better game, shorter, but better.

Re: The Elder Scrolls!
A part that Bethesda really has no say in. It's popular opinion. Yes, to the victor goes the spoils, but it's really not intentional.

Kinda like how games get Platinum status and are sold for almost the new price. It's kinda like re-releasing. It's a marketing ploy.Volke wrote:?
