So does anyone else Cosplay?

If so, who have you cosplayed as?
What are your future cosplay plans?
Any embarrasing/funny/interesting moments you like to share?
Any tips for others?

I'll start the ball rolling.

Previous cosplays: Train Heartnet (Black Cat), Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell), Vayle (Dragonfable), Val (Mechquest), Zatanna (DC).

Planned cosplays: Muramasa, Jushiro Ukitake, Lisa Yadomaru and Haineko (Bleach), Gravelyn (AQW), Not sure which character I'd go as but must wear the New Republic Dress Uniform (Star Wars), Noelle Bor (Trinity Blood)

Embarrasing/Funny/Interesting Moments:
-The milk used as my prop for my Train skit went sour. I still had to drink it. Fortunately an L cosplayer gave me some chocolate to get rid of the aftertaste.
-I was given jellybabies by a Fourth Doctor cosplayer just for having purple hair.
-Recently, National Cosplay Day coincided with the International Buskers Festival in Christchurch. While waiting for some of the other cosplayers to arrive, we were asked when we were going to perform by a lot of people.

Tips:
-Wig caps are a good investment
-Always bring a sewing kit, glue and invisible tape if you cosplay at a Con. Especially if it's a competition cosplay. Props will always break and bits of your costume will always tear or fall off. I had a skeleton prop for my Vayle cosplay, by the end of the day it was being held together in parts with tape (Though falling on top of it probably didn't help it)

If I ever go to Dragoncon or whatnot, I could easily find a way to get into my Vampire Suit and Skull and prance around for hours on end :D

I really want to go to DragonCon (and SD ComicCon and many others) but currently I have to settle for Armageddon Christchurch and the NZ Anime Convention in Dunedin

I'd cosplay my character. just have to get elf ears, REALLY good hair gell, somehow find a blue tuxedo, and face-paint myself blue.

O_O I've Cosplayed Vayle too! OMG, that was SO MUCH FUN! My friend was her dragonfable character, SALI, and she was Robina last year. I'm working on a new cosplay idea soon!

Vayle is an awesome character to cosplay as, but the night before the cosplay competition, my wings broke so they had to be sewn to my collar and bodice. I wasn't able to sit down properly otherwise I'd suffocate myself. Fortunately, there was a large couch seat thing I could lie down on. Standing around for 11 hours in 4 inch boots would've killed my feet.

Some Request from my school was: Ikuto, Kukai, Sasuke, Sora, Tadase, Nagamasa, Shin, Kira, Tsuna, Hayato etc.

I've always wanted to cosplay as Amu. Go with me sometime. :)

It would be a bit too obscure to cosplay as your AQW character.

On a side note: /rage at rule change for the Armageddon Cosplay Competition. Skit must be pre-recorded on CD. Will have to create skit at least a week in advance instead of getting inspiration at the con.

And less than 2 months to go. I'd better get cracking.
Saturday: Val (MQ)-85% complete
Sunday: Lisa Yadomaru (Bleach) (Hopefully)- 0% complete

These are from Cosplay Day held last Sunday. It was fun and this time I did not severely injure myself.

Almost forgot to add a link to these. The photo scavenger hunt we held on the day. Except the teams haven't been sorted into separate albums. My team's stuff is on the last 2 pages of the album.

well, I do love getting in costume, however ive only had a few chances to actually cosplay (otherwise it was just for haloween) Still, when I did get to do it, I went as a crusader from a homemade suit of armour (Iron, Aluminum, Paper, and Mosquito Nets) and the second time as Hannibal Lecter, still now ive managed to make a costume based on my AQW char, odds are ill wear it If I ever get to DragonCon (AND If I can get the giant pencil to fit in my luggage)

other than that Cosplaying is one of those things everyone should try once!

I have cosplayed as: Nina Tucker (Full Metal Alchemist) Gaara (Naruto-shippuden) Naruto (Naruto non-shippuden) Axel (Kingdom Hearts II) Hidan (Naruto-shippuden) Various characters from Hetalia-Axis Powers (Hetalia Axis Powers) Demyx (Kingdom Hearts II) Roxas (Kingdom Hearts (II)

I plan to cosplay as: Sebastian (Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler) Allen Walker (D Gray-man) Toph (Avatar-The Last Airbender) Yachiru (Bleach)

Funny/Embarrasing Moments: 1. Dancing Caramelldansen with over 30 people at Anime Expo and almost falling when I kept dancing while going down the stairs 2. Getting chased around by all the yaoi fangirls dressed as Roxas when I cosplayed as Axel (eeeeew) 3. Getting stepped on while cosplaying as Hidan. (I was laying down on the floor pretending to do his ritual thing and some chick in heels stepped on my hand) 4. Getting rick rolled in the middle of the exhibit hall at anime expo

Tips : if you don't want to pony up the cash for a wig cap cut off a leg from a pair of panty-hose and stick it on ur head. Tie the leg in a not after you've adjusted the it to fit your head. If you have to wear a heavy leather coat (think Organization XIII) it's best to wear something with no sleeves underneath and a LOT of deodorant. For costumes that are from fairly popular animes it's more than likely that you can find a good costume for a decent price on ebay if you don't want to make it yourself.

Yes! Got some stuff to build Haguro Tonbo (Lisa Yadomaru's shaolin spade shikai) and possibly some other props.

Another Tip:

Always have a good look around timber yards and such. Sometimes they have offcuts that you can use instead of buying a large piece when you only need a fraction of the piece for your prop.
Example- The MDF board I bought today is usually worth about NZ$15-20, I bought it for $5. Then again it was a coversheet (a sheet of plywood or MDF used to protect other sheets of plywood or MDF from damage) but still in good condition.:3
