Yes in every song that has lyrics they need to be good or the song is bad. The lyrics are the first thing you pay attention to when you hear a song and it is the part you can experience without the actual song playing through singing it. Not many people can play drums along to a song, however everyone can sing along to the lyrics.

I think that if a song makes no sense, but has a great tune, it's almost worthless. If a song has great lyrics but a terrible tune, then It's worthless as well... I think you need a balence.

Lyrics are really the only part of a song that matters to me. I can get used to just about any tune, beat, etc., but the lyrics are the part that puts me on or off of a song.

It really depends what genre, because in some, you can't even understand the lyrics. (Heavy Metal)
