Because you totally throw swords, yeah.
Makes sense in a way though, by this time swords and other melee weapons were pretty much gone, you had your knives and clubs, but guns were the main method of killing stuff.
Should make it a little more challenging for Desmond.

Also, if you look at the images, you see Connor killing people with it and being used as a hand to hand weapon.

Hm, I haven't played AC before but I love the American Revolution so I might have to buy it. Can it be played on a PC?

As long as I'm not Canadian, I'll play it. Seems VERY out of place for this game, so it'll be a rental.

I'm still going to get it for PC, I hope the UI system is closer to AC2, not ACB. ACB's UI bugs me. I don't like having to use my right hand for anything other than the mouse, but I have to hit it to exit maps and such.

Indeed. Back at E3, I believe, they announced Nintendo was going to actually start trying to get real game releases outside of their own first party games. Then on stage, someone from the Assassin team and some Nintendoen shook hands.

Eh. Wii-U is kind of lame. Esentially, it's just a Wii with a new controller and the graphics that will be totally old school in just few years.

Even if the Wii-U isn't very good, it has 2 years to completely dominate the next gen market before Ps4 or the next xbox come out.
