Peregrine Appreciation Week
The Peregrine Falcon is a majestic bird and passbyer of North Canada. As ornothological enthusiasts ourselves, lets take some time to grace its presence and the folllowing Wikipedia article.
The Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), also known as the Peregrine,[2] and historically as the Duck Hawk in North America,[3] is a widespread bird of prey in the family Falconidae. A large, crow-sized falcon, it has a blue-grey back, barred white underparts, and a black head and "moustache". As is typical of bird-eating raptors, Peregrine Falcons are sexually dimorphic, females being considerably larger than males.[4][5] The Peregrine is renowned for its speed, reaching over 322 km/h (200 mph) during its characteristic hunting stoop (high speed dive),[6] making it the fastest member of the animal kingdom.[7][8]
The Peregrine's breeding range includes land regions from the Arctic tundra to the tropics. It can be found nearly everywhere on Earth, except extreme polar regions, very high mountains, and most tropical rainforests; the only major ice-free landmass from which it is entirely absent is New Zealand. This makes it the world's most widespread raptor[9] and one of the most widely found bird species. In fact, the only land-based bird species found over a larger geographic area is not always naturally occurring but one widely introduced by humans, the Rock Pigeon, which in turn now supports many Peregrine populations as a prey species. Both the English and scientific names of this species mean "wandering falcon", referring to the migratory habits of many northern populations. Experts recognize 17 to 19 subspecies which vary in appearance and range; there is disagreement over whether the distinctive Barbary Falcon is represented by two subspecies of Falco peregrinus, or is a separate species, F. pelegrinoides.
While its diet consists almost exclusively of medium-sized birds, the Peregrine will occasionally hunt small mammals, small reptiles, or even insects. Reaching sexual maturity at one year, it mates for life and nests in a scrape, normally on cliff edges or, in recent times, on tall human-made structures.[10] The Peregrine Falcon became an endangered species in many areas because of pesticides, especially DDT. Since the ban on DDT from the early 1970s, populations have recovered, supported by large-scale protection of nesting places and releases to the wild.[11]
Here's lookin' to you, Bird!
Re: Peregrine Appreciation Week
If anyone would like to share their own experiences with the Peregrine Falcon, now is the time.
Re: Peregrine Appreciation Week
This is why I plan to become a Falconer when I am older.

Re: Peregrine Appreciation Week
Living in Canada myself, I am constantly immersed in a land where Peregrine roams free. And let me tell you this: it is not all its cracked up to be. A day can't go by without some sarcastic snarky comment on my way to work. I'm fed up with this bull. You guys can take Peregrine, I'm moving.

Re: Peregrine Appreciation Week
Peregrine once sat on a tree near our back porch while I was taking the dog outside. Kept staring at me creepily all the time. Just as if he knew something. I was lying awake that night, unable to sleep.

Re: Peregrine Appreciation Week
In a shocking turn of events, I have personally managed to debunk the majestic nature of the Peregrine, for I know it's terrible horrible secret.
He steals all his material. Jokes? Stole 'em from me. Links to funny things? From me, again. Fixing his grammar over the years in order not to look like Tim? Stolen from me as well.
It's how he builds his nest and attracts the biggest of females, to keep him warm in the long cold winters while Peregrine hibernates, tucked comfortably within the overlapping fat layers.

Re: Peregrine Appreciation Week
Please everyone, I don't deserve all this praise. Is what I would say if any had been posted.
But yes, for those wondering about the hottest new scandal, everything Ieb said is true. I'm just his pallet swap from developers who didn't care. I wont even be in the sequel, but that's alright because Ieb will so no one will notice.

Confirmed.
Re: Peregrine Appreciation Week
Excuse me, but I feel personally victimized by the Peregrine Falcon and would like to order it's extinction. All in favour?

Re: Peregrine Appreciation Week
Considering the odds of a Peregrine successfully mating(they are unsure which is the which gender) the species is likely to go extinct within the next 40 years by natural causes, keeping our hands relatively clean.
