In history, normally killing someone's leader ended the fight against that community. Terrorism may be different, but this will at least throw Al Qaeda into confusion.

I think it's kinda bad and disrespectful to sing We are The Champions about the death of someone, no matter how many people they killed.

I don't know, it just makes me unconfortable... Imagine all the people who loved him. :/

You're being human. To rejoice the death of another human being isn't something that should be done regardless of who they are.

Is anyone else thinking of the backlash that's going to occur? The people angry at the U.S for killing their leader? Seriously.

Well, you could say that this was their turn for some backlash, after all they have done to the US.

Besides, I'm sure many are thinking about the backlash as you suggest, but what can we do about it?

Backlash? Weren't they already trying to kill everyone in the US? How could it get any worse?

I say to the contrary, now that the brain (or one of the brains) behind the operations is gone, they'll probably be more unorganized and more easily spottable/catchable/whateverable.

I guess it is going over board celebrating the death like they did, but you have to remember they've been trying to kill this guy for like 10 years. And not only that, the world is definitely better off without someone like him roaming around blowing people up.

I don't know. What happens happens. I believe that even if people don't see eye to eye, then there still isn't any reason to kill. In situations like this, everyone believes that their 'right', and 'justice' is being served to those who deserve it.

I think that at heart, everyone is just trying to make others understand. They might have different ways of making their point, but that's truly what I think...

Baby blood, that is. I agree, the celebrating went way overboard. Nothing wrong with being happy that he's dead, but some of them are taking it a bit too far.

I don't know about you, but if Al-Qaeda is trying to make others understand by killing as many people as possible... that falls under "inappropriate ways to make others understand" in my book.

I don't perrsonally see any good or logical reason to celebrate ANYONE dying.

This is the major problem with conflict, once it starts: it becomes a non-stop chain of revenge and backlash until one or all sides are dead. Until somebody buries the hatchet, it will not stop.
Granted, that is a GENERAL overview of conflict and in this situation may not apply best, but it is a problem!

I agree that the celebrations were way overboard. I think the backlash won't be bad enough to override the damage Osama's death will cause to Terrorism, in the long run, however.
