Are you going to play?
AdventureQuest 3D
I don't know if any of you still follow Artix Entertainment's games, but they're releasing another one: AQW3D. It includes 3D models (as implied by the title) and is aimed at older players that have been with them since the beginning. The pre-registration for names just opened, and I snagged Winnie before anyone else.
I feel like we could take this as a chance to try the whole "clan of AE" thing again... since we've sort of gotten away from that.
It's okay if you guys don't want to, (I'll be playing anyway!) but I was just throwing that out there.

BLUNDER OF THE CENTURY THIS IS WORSE THAN THE TORTANIC
But seriously, the intro video was like 5 fps. It's being fully made in Unity with a dev team of ~5. Plus its played in your browser. This game will be HORRIBLE.

Of course its all speculation. "will be" not is. I don't plan on thinking about the game until its out and I can actually try it.

Reserved a name because I can. Also that intro video was pretty smooth, I think Tim's computer just sucks.
And why the Unity player hate? I've seen some good games made in it.

Re: AdventureQuest 3D
Yeah, Unity is a great platform. When Cartoon Network had their MMO (I think it was called FusionFall?) it was done in all Unity, and it was VERY well done. I think AE can pull this off.

Re: AdventureQuest 3D
I've already registered "Thoru" and am looking forward to it. Hoping it will bring back my old AE love! Who knows, I may love them again yet!
Re: AdventureQuest 3D
I sort of agree with Tim that it doesn't look like it'll be good but I pre-registered a name all the less. And I also voted other BECAUSE.
Re: AdventureQuest 3D
I'll play it, like most of AE's games. The part where they said they're aiming this for the older players sounds intriguing enough to try, and I don't exactly play AE games for "z0mg best looking gaems evar".
I bet it's going to be pay-to-play though.
Also, no framerate problems here either and I don't even have a gaming computer. Anyone complaining of poor FPS just doesn't want to admit that their computer is crap.

Re: AdventureQuest 3D
It'll be F2P or they wouldn't have the name registration. All AE games are F2P but offer additional stuff to people who pay about 20 or so bucks. In this case, It'll probably be about as much as AQW membership.

Re: AdventureQuest 3D
Well I've forgotten what it's like in the other games since the only one I do play these days is AQ and I got a Guardian-account on that. It's been years since I had to deal with the player-limits AQ has. What I do remember though is that after the player-limit thing was applied to all the time instead of just during Guardian-swims, you might as well have called AQ a "pay-to-play" game. Pay with your money, or your time as you wait a spot on the game to open up.
Does AQ still have those? Come to think of it, why? Do the other games have player limits like that? If not, what are they doing right that AQ isn't doing?
But back on the game, the few preview images I've seen haven't looked that bad. Not really that great either though, but whatever. Also, don't all AE games have only a few people on the staff?

Re: AdventureQuest 3D
I'm hoping it will be as fun as AQW was, but will be able to keep its fanbase. Imagine a game where everything was open, and truly free. What if they ran off of donations from people? (They never WOULD, but still)

AQ has player limits because it's such a popular game and not everyone can play on the same server all the time. I believe DF, the mech one and WarpForce also have limits, but they aren't taxed as much as AQ is.

Re: AdventureQuest 3D
So, this game looks pretty, the frame rate isn't 5fps tim's computer sucks and I signed up with my TOR character name stole from yogscast of Adaphon
Re: AdventureQuest 3D
I wouldn't mind a one-time payment if the game is good enough. After all I got a lot of playtime out of my one-time payment guardian AQ account.

Re: AdventureQuest 3D
I'm really hoping this game can live up to my expectations of it, seeing as AE has lost a lot of hope in my eyes. They alienated their older fanbase, maybe this will bring it back
Re: AdventureQuest 3D
Rather than alienating the older playerbase, the older playerbase grew too old to have time for games that AE makes these days. They're just not "lunchbreak sized" anymore.

Prettier than most games you have to download. And it's in-browser.

Because Unity is 100000x10000 times better.
