Re: The Strange Adventures of Unimaginatively Named Characters, A Discussion
The Charlatan is assuming direct control of this fool's thread.
We are proud to announce that we will now be selling our tabloid here, for the low low price of a comment. Please check this fool's first post for a complete listing of all our issues.
The Charlatan is a tabloid written by members of Paxia (more specifically, Dynami) from the game of AdventureQuest. Our current staff totals four people: one full time writer, one lazy one, one who's never there when we need him, and an editor. This thread will be updated every time a new Charlatan issue is released, so please check back every Wednesday.
Also of note, The Charlatan is what the chassis for the TR Tabloid was based upon, only unlike the TR Tabloid The Charlatan is not in a test run stage and is updated on schedule (vs not at all).

Re: The Strange Adventures of Unimaginatively Named Characters, A Discussion
Favorites so far are...
"Chosen Ones as far as the eye can see"
"Scientists and other wackjobs call for yet another war on dragons"
"Igneus terribly sorry for their most recent blunder."
"Parents worried for their adventuring children!"
"Moglins Unite!"
"Knights of Order finally get their demands through!"
Those made me crack up.

Re: The Strange Adventures of Unimaginatively Named Characters, A Discussion
I'd just like to say that WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS.
Posted the first part of chapter 5. I tried writing it as a single parter but it just dragged ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON until I realized the only way to make a coherent story (or as Sparda will tell you, coherent by my standards), was to split it up. And then after it didn't work I split it up again.
AND NOW THERE ARE THREE PARTS.

As Sparda puts it, my job is to do my job.
Hey Erik, since you read it, can you tell me what needed improvement? I figure I'm a little-lot rusty.

Re: The Strange Adventures of Unimaginatively Named Characters, A Discussion
I felt like I was watching the first five minutes of what is going to be a really good movie. Now that everything is set hopefully the movie will kick into gear.
I lol'd at the new Charon part.

It was pretty good. The only thing I can really say wasn't good was...well I can't really say anything wasn't good.

Re: The Strange Adventures of Unimaginatively Named Characters, A Discussion
Sebi suggested it for TRTG and I thought: "Hey, there's an idea." You'll be turned back at the end, but I thought it might be fun to write some lines for a duck. It was, by the way.
Also, thanks everyone.

One of our brothers has fallen in duty to the emperor.
PRAY YOUR FATE WILL BE THE SAME.
Okay, I promise I will lay off the 40K references for at least ten chapters.

Re: The Strange Adventures of Unimaginatively Named Characters, A Discussion
That was the best thing I've ever read. I can't wait for the end of this chapter.
Also, as a note. I noticed you either forgot a word or theres a joke I didn't understand in one of the dialogue parts.
"Flaw of Insanity: Oh, you figured out a way Cial into a duck? That's very useful."

My words.
Someone stole them.
Thanks Tim and Flaw.

Re: The Strange Adventures of Unimaginatively Named Characters, A Discussion
ANOTHER MASTERPIECE.
But I spotted an error, too.
Two Darres? But don't worry, Dake and Darre is easily confused. I did it myself when reading the story. That scene when Flaw arrived at the shack and meets Darre? I thought "Wait, isn't Darre with DuckCial somewhere else?" and had to scroll back up only to find out that it's Dake, not Darre. Names, fun stuff.
But I spotted an error, too.
Flaw of Insanity escorts Darre and Cial out of the city. Darre makes his way up to the power distribution facility, lowers the shield, and turns the windmills up to max. Surely enough, the city begins sinking immediately. Darre turns around to make his escape but finds the door blocked by an adversary.

That's not a problem, Darre went into the power thing, and them cocoa stopped him.

I think you're missing the point.
"Flaw of Insanity escorts Darre and Cial out of the city."
should be
"Flaw of Insanity escorts Dake and Cial out of the city."

Ah yes, thanks for catching that. Fixed.
Re: The Strange Adventures of Unimaginatively Named Characters, A Discussion
NOW YOU ARE. The final part of chapter 5 is up.
Added two more things to my coming soon list as well, Doppelquacker (chapter 6) and a currently unnamed collaboration between Cial and I. For chapter 6, hopefully we can get back to one part stories, because I mean seriously.
