@Winnie: No action has been taken since no one has contributed their signatures. As soon as an ample amount are posted, I'd be more than happy to send Artix a message.
Re: Female Armors
I tottaly agree with what Zeo says. I got idea! Lets ban LoZ from kids because they expose skin! Heh this nothing compared to WoW.

Re: Female Armors
Lol! Not that sort of signature, your hand written signature, scanned, pic'd and uploaded onto here so I can attach the (hopefully at least a dozen) signatures to an E-mail and send it to Artix.
Re: Female Armors
Yeah, like this!
Only that's not my signature.
Well, I'll send the signatures and the letter and topic to Artix on monday, sp please everybody make one!

Re: Female Armors
Yep, and people like Crystal Lion are overreacting about this matter for AQW. There's games that are even worse then WoW (which I will keep unnamed >_>).wwwtoy wrote:I tottaly agree with what Zeo says. I got idea! Lets ban LoZ from kids because they expose skin! Heh this nothing compared to WoW.
Re: Female Armors
Is Ragnarok Online one of them? And I still don't want AQW to have a cliche first impression where female armors are concerned.
Re: Female Armors
Not to be offensive, but you that note isnt going to work. <_< >_> Its like telling mario to lose weight.

Re: Female Armors
That's because the image of a plump Mario has been fixed since his start, but AE wasn't known for compulsory revealing clothes when it was founded. Now AE wants to be like many other game companies that force female players and npcs into cabaret-style clothes, when AE's previous impression was that female players did not need to wear revealing leotards or diva gowns to fight.
Re: Female Armors
How do you they wanted to be like other game companies? And besides, they have plenty of non-body part showing armors. Seriously, if your gonna complain about a game go complain about WoW or Perfect World or Wizard 101.Crystal Lion wrote:That's because the image of a plump Mario has been fixed since his start, but AE wasn't known for compulsory revealing clothes when it was founded. Re: Female Armors
They may not want to be, but their formerly compulsory revealing uniforms in AQW's beta implies that they're following a passe trend.

To be fair, AE started with the most lousy graphics I've ever seen for a game. Their first game had NO gender choice as well, meaning no breasts. The NPCs did wear revealing clothes. Look at Safiria on AQ if you want to complain. She HAS cleavage. How could you say that AQW has anything suggestive? Are women supposed to be in large cloaks that show nothing but their face? If you don't like something, don't get it and move on. Don't try to change everyone else's opinion. This is the internet, the land of failure arguments. Though I don't have the same belief, I respect yours, but respect everyone else's too, instead of trying to change how things are run. Please don't try to get everything changed, as I've already lost friends on AQW because of YOU complaining.

Re: Female Armors
Ok, AQ isn't exactly the best example, but take a gander at DF? It was the first AE game to have clearly defined genders after all. Last I checked, DF armors weren't always revealing. And ah non, if revealing clothes suit a woman, by all means, go ahead, wear them! Doesn't mean that a game has to resort to only revealing clothes for women, because not everyone wants to wear leotards and slitted skirts to battle, even if it's fiction.

Well, AQ was their first game. You mentioned they were not founded on it. They were, by your standards. Dragon Fable, started pretty basic too. I did the 1 quest beta and such. DF has changed because the main artist also has changed to Tomix. They aren't revealing in the least. If anything, the American media is the MOST revealing thing in the world. If you don't like how AQW is, why play it? You'd only be supporting it that way. Trying to change everything generally doesn't work. You set extremely high standards for just an online game. It seems that you really shouldn't be playing something you oppose so much. I'm a tad confused why you do all of this, to be honest... Why play it at all if its the sort of game you oppose? Why not complain about the male armors portraying that all men are steriodacholics? This is a fine line that cuts both ways. There are armors of cross-dressing? Really? Why not complain about that? You seem to set double standards, and it just makes you look silly.

Re: Female Armors
Why do I do this? I'm thoroughly fed up with how women are portrayed in games. It's mostly, "If women fight, they must wear revealing clothes that would cause them to be dead in reality!"
And I just want to see a fantasy game that for once, doesn't force women to dress like showgirls just to be allowed to fight in the first place!
I know American media and Hollywood are responsible for setting that standard, but it has become cliche, yes?
As for crossdressing, I don't mind it so much, provided it's for comedic effect. Though I didn't comment on the superhero guys, partially because that isn't in every single game I've seen, unlike compulsory revealing women's uniforms.

You need to learn more history then. In historical reality, there WERE women who wore revealing clothes when they fought. It was also common to see women topless, as that wasn't an issue back then, depending on the originality. The faction of Britiania's women rode nude upon chariots and hurled the heads of fallen foes at their enemy. The Scythian women were trained as virgins (pure) and were not allowed to marry unless they made a kill upon the battlefield. The Germanic women did nothing but stand topless with the men and screamed to provide moral to their husbands, while draining it from their enemies. Also, it doesn't force you to do anything. A LOT of AE's stuff are burlesque you see. Burlesque, using its proper definition as a sense of comedy, and even more specific a parody, is used a lot in ALL of the AE games. Shadowslayer X, was based loosely off Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You act like there are no alternatives? There are plenty. They constantly make plenty. They always will make plenty. Women have always aspired to look beautiful, this is true. Online games did not make the armors (originally) for the males. They made it because women demanded it. They were tired of being just a shell of armor. And, to be fair, there is no death in AQW. Nobody in the story has, and ever will die. Trust me, AE doesn't allow for anything that isn't up to their standards. Despite what you may think, they DO have them. I also noticed, that you stated that you don't want to look like a showgirl, but your signature says you ARE one. Why contradict yourself also?

It is relevant to the topic. I do not assault people. I just simply stated some historical accuracy, as she said there was none. If you think I'm assaulting anyone, rest assured I'm not. If anything, she changed the subject. She mentioned games in general. The topic is AQW. She mentioned all games in general. That is off topic in my opinion.

I wasn't directing it at her particularly. Some of the comments from the people that are for the skin are directed right a Griffin. She may be the most outspoken person for this, but not the only person.

I was comparing AQW to other games that have revealing clothes for hardly any rhyme or reason. After all, is there any story in AQW to explain the abrupt change in the policy of compulsory revealing clothes?

Actually, there is. Safiria for example. She is seen in all of the games as a beautiful queen, its even in her description. Of course you can't look so pretty in a wall of armor, right? Safiria HAS to serve a sex appeal. In AQ she seduces everyone but the hero in a cutscene. Would not if be fitting for her to wear revealing clothing?

Re: Female Armors
Guys, I'd really like to point out a few facts that I think are quite obvious.
One, do you realize that Miltonius could be making much more revealing armor for women, seeing as he has made an explicit flash animation series, and that AQW's art is completely based around it? So I really think we should be happy all we're seeing is thighs.
Two, AQW is mainly geared to please teenage males, not females. So of course many of these female armors will be for the guys rather than for the girls.
Three, there are many female armors that don't have these problems, so if you don't like it, I suggest you just wear something else.
Four, it's just pixels. And female bodies are almost completely unshaded.
Just saying.

Re: Female Armors
It fits Safiria, obviously. I'm talking the female hero player. Usually, in other AE games, it's not implied that the player is a Helen of Troy, hence the fewer revealing clothes she has to wear. Suddenly, in AQW, she must wear leotards and slitted skirts almost all the time, while the game still doesn't fix her in the role as a seductress, but that of a fighter/mage/whatever class she is. The player doesn't have any actual option to pick a love interest in the game, that sort of situation is only created through fanfiction of said AE games.
