Female Armors - Page 6 Empty Re: Female Armors

Post by Evangel Sun Feb 28, 2010 12:26 pm

Safiria is an exception... well, not really. She's based off a Staff Member, who probably chose her NPC to look the way she does. Even so, if you compare AQ's version to AQW's version, even MechQuest's version, AQW is still the most revealing. (Might I also add AQW's ver took away the original's silver wings?)

Now, the topic is the female AQW players, not others.

Might I refer back to my OP: The base tier classes and secondary tier classes: http://yfrog.com/1s86684011p

Take, as an example, Warrior and Warlord. Heavily armored, random section of skin showing the thighs. Necessary? I think not.

Female Armors - Page 6 Empty Re: Female Armors

Crystal Lion wrote:It fits Safiria, obviously. I'm talking the female hero player. Usually, in other AE games, it's not implied that the player is a Helen of Troy, hence the fewer revealing clothes she has to wear. Suddenly, in AQW, she must wear leotards and slitted skirts almost all the time, while the game still doesn't fix her in the role as a seductress, but that of a fighter/mage/whatever class she is. The player doesn't have any actual option to pick a love interest in the game, that sort of situation is only created through fanfiction of said AE games.

You did not specifically state that. [quote="Crystal Lion"]I was comparing AQW to other games that have revealing clothes for hardly any rhyme or reason. After all, is there any story in AQW to explain the abrupt change in the policy of compulsory revealing clothes?[quote]

You asked about the story in general, or at least made it out as if you did. I simply proved that there IS story in AQW that suggests clothing of the sort. In the said cutscene, by the way, the character does admit that she is beautiful, he (no gender choice), simply says he is not so gullible. I have yet to see a slitted skirt, by the way. Fishnets and leotards were popular around this time as well, its just they didn't have the same meaning as they are seen as today. The game has, to a very tiny extent, some historical accuracy. Being that I've studied a period similar to this one for many years in my schooling, I can safely say that this game hasn't violated anything too bad. Yes, AQW does have futuristic stuff as well, as its basically a mesh of AQ, DF, and MQ. That aside, the outfits portray a level of realism, and there are a lot that are not this way, more so then not, I'd say.

How is the AQW version of this any more revealing? They even added a necklace to cover the cleavage further. Safiria is the most revealing in AQ, as it has the most realistic looking graphics. AQW doesn't even go for realism on any of its graphics.

First you said Safiria seduced everyone except the hero (player) in AQ, then you mentioned she does that in AQW? Might want to check that typo.

I said slitted skirts exist in AQW, yes. Look at the magician/healer classes and their subscriber upgrades, NOT the armors that cover classes. The skirt is merely two parts of cloth, instead of a full pattern as usually found in skirts.

Have you not seen a traditional priestess'es robe? Its just like that. And you hit the head on the nail, it ISNT a skirt at all. Its a traditional looking robe. I didn't say it happens in AQW. I said that the player in AQ admits she is beautiful. There is no point to admitting that you're wrong in your own post. There is nothing to be gained from your complaining. If you don't like how it is, don't play. End of story. You're making too big of a deal about this. I've already lost three friends because of this, do you want them all to quit?

I don't even know who your friends are, but I admit my words are much too harsh. Even if the robe design is traditional, does it really need to expose the entire leg? Just wondering.

I really don't see the problem with exposing an entire leg. The beach outfit does the same exact thing. How can it be appropriate at one time, but not the other? It is the same part of the body either way, is it not? If you think its okay for a beach outfit, which you should as people near one inevitably go to them, then why not a leg in general? Its not like there are suggestive armors like evening ware or the ever classic battle-bra. AQW is very mild with showing anything.

Also, it's definitely a matter of style. I've seen them attempt to cover the thigh(e.g. Viking Armor) and it just doesn't look right, no offence to Lavitz whatsoever. That's what AQW's style has been like from the beginning, and changing it would be changing WAY too much. The general public likes consistancy, and to completely revamp everything we've known from the start would be just wrong.

Of course take into consideration the Lavitz armor was originally designed for males, and AE did a quick body adjust for that.

As soon as Artix sees that there is people passionate about it, he'd do something. Something. That doesn't exactly mean taking skin out of the picture entirely. Only making it more appropriate.

Look what they did for Shadowslayer Z and the Vampire Emissary and Knight. Do they look like rubbish because no skin is showing for the female versions? I don't think they do.

That's because you don't have to wear them. Being a female, and seeing the original design for the Shadowslayer, I saw something I thought would be epic. The small change you forced upon it made it into something that is completely abnormal. You should be satisfied with that endeavor, and call it a day.

To be honest, I'm fine with how the art is handled as of now. My only beef is that gender is irreversible choice.

Actually, now that I think about it, if genders weren't preset as they are, we wouldn't have the harassment problems that I spoke of earlier. Make it like AQ, ya know?

/facepalm

For the love of.....

WHY IS THERE EVEN A DEBATE ON THIS?!?!?!

It's NOT 'E for Everyone', its 'E-10 and up'.

Now seriously, think about what we are debating on here. We are debating on armours that show skin. Animated. Kay, so, if i were 10 and went to the local beach, somethign would have to be done about it? Just because its animated artwork doesn't mean a bikini is unacceptable. Oh, next thing you know its illegal to have babies brest fed because of NUDITY. Everyone here saying AQW is *insert soemthing here* with female armours, your over-reacting.

10 year olds ARE NOT going to notice, or think anything of, a bikini armour, or a armour showing the thigh, or a leotard, or a low-neck dress, etc, etc. They are going to play AQW and have fun playing it, you know, like what the main focus on a game should be?

Give me ONE THING in AQW that is inappropriate for AQW, and tell me why 10 year olds would notice it, and think something of it. Thats right. YOU CAN'T.

AQW is a Online Game, not only that, a ANIME-based MMORPG. There is nothing in AQW that is worse than some of the things 13 and under's can watch on television.

This whole thing is just pointless.

Just stop. It's a waste of time arguing about this.

BTW,

Evangel wrote:That's a whole different story. At a swimming pool, you have to wear revealing clothes, its not like you're gonna swim fully dressed. I'm talking about UNNECESSARY PARTIAL NUDITY. Like, almost every single female armor having exposed thighs.

Would a person in real life wear something like that? A full suit or armor with the exception of the thigh?

This game is anime-based. Ever seen a Anime-cosplay-con?

I don't understand anymore why this fighting is going on. Sebi said it nearly the way I would, except in caps. I didn't even pay attention to the female armors before, until this was brought up. There is no nudity, therefore I see no problem. One person on twitter just mentioned it, because they over-exaggerate everything and probably have issues, and then everyone else exploded over it.

I second that lock request...
And I also add a zipper-on-everyone-who-keeps-complaining-about-this-all-the-time-mouth request, dont mean to sound like a jerk but this has turned from a a reasonable argument to an all out flame war!

Also, Id like to add one more thing to everyone who thinks that these armour are revealing, at least 50% of players happen to like it that way, consider that the next time you complain!
