Pere, just don't try and irritate Jason with your TGL sidetracking.

TGL sidetracking? Not at all. I was merely pointed out Jason wouldn't have had as much trouble navigating the forums as someone who didn't come from TGL, because Mathia copied most of TR's layout when he made TGL's. I may seem like a scathing prick, but despite having disagreed with him once or twice recently, I don't have anything against Jason. Even if I did, I'd still work with him. We may have had one or two disagreements in the past, but we both share a common goal. We both want to see TR active again.

And yes, I'm completely off-topic, but I didn't want to be credited as a troll without being able to toss in: "I'm not a troll, I'm a real boy!"

Wow we all have to take a chill pill here :|

Back on topic - I think we should put something like a tutorial thread on how to do what so it would be more comfortable for new-comers to post and stuff.

The new member confusion issue settled more in my opinion on points systems, ranks, zards, CC usernames. Since these tings are uncommon on other forums, an explanation of them should be added to the new member email.

We're not starting an argument, it's fine. We're just thinking of way to help the newbies.

I agree Darre. We should add a little bit more to the intro PM V sends out.

I was thinking something more along the lines of a less confusing forum layout as opposed to a guide for the current one that gets PMed to new members.

I'm liking both ideas, however Pere's seems more helpful to me. But I still think that we could add more to the PM. Something like... "Here are some active threads you may be interested in. Blahblahblah".

On to Pere's idea, I agree. Our forums may seem simple, but to forum/clan new comers, they will be easily confused by the layout. If we had something more new user friendly, it would be much easier ^^

Olook, my two cents! :D

What, so writing a few more paragraphs and sending it to new members will increase our activity figures? I don't think so. I think there should be a requirement that atleast 5 post's a week?

No 5sec, I disagree with your suggestion.

Having a required amount of posts per week is, in my opinion, a terrible idea. You shouldn't need to force your members to post to have activity. They should WANT to post! If you have to force your members to post, they will quickly lose respect and leave.

And yes,
... writing a few more paragraphs and sending it to new members will increase our activity figures...
. To a new member, forums can be intimidating if they don't know where to go. And nobody wants to do something wrong on the first day. Just that little bit more could clear up some confusion with new members, and in suite, will decrease the number of new members that go inactive, which will increase our activity.

^^. Oh yeah, and I hope you don't take offense to this.

I see his point.

With a more secluded and close-knit community, people will look forward to posting more, because they know they only have their friends on the site. Noone new who could be a nuisance could be there!
