That brings us up to 19 dwarves. I figure I'll embark at 28, because I can embark with either 7, 14, 28, 56, 112 or 224, and 56 is way too many to start off with.

You misunderstood. I didn't give Erik a second char, I gave his char both mining and misc object using, because misc object using is useless.

Yes, it's possible to have more than one skill.

I conveniently left that fact out because picking two (or ten) totally unrelated skills makes the game a micro-management nightmare for me.

If however you want to pick related jobs like engraver and mason (both stoneworker professions) then go for it man.
