I seriously doubt we'll ever have the capabiliities to do that. If you like that style of game, you should get minecraft.

That wouldn't be down the road, that would be a huge detour. Uphill. Through a swamp that is inside a scary forest.

so are we doing live action or turn based cuz if we do a turn based game i have a few ideas for that. like i think that we should merge the turn based game with the live action if we go into the turn based direction and alow the characters to attack with basic attacks that deturman weather he/she or the opponint gets the first attack in the turn based fight. and i think that perhaps we can also merge a bit of AQ origenal with the game bye making pixelated characters but in sort of that aq/df style and more visualy appealing. in this mode youd be able to see there more detailed features such as special weapons and armor.

those are my ideas atm. more to come later

Everybody chill. I got this.

Translation:

Arch Fiend wrote:Are we doing turn based or live action? Because I have some ideas for turn based. If we do go turn based we should have a basic attack that decides if the player goes first or the monster does.

I also think we should merge some ideas from the original AQ by making the close up versions of the characters (for cut-scenes, battles[?], etc) more detailed than simple pixel characters. In this mode you would see special armours and weapons.

These are some of my ideas, I'll post more later

Now, I'm going to go sit in a dark room with some coffee.

That was so informative Tom, thanks for the help.

As for the more detailed characters when not in overworld mode, we already have it covered. The flash characters that Kawz is making are going to be used during cutscenes (and the shop for Tim).

Can we get back on topic?

Arch, please try to write properly, you don't have to rush to post things, take your time and make sure it's correct.

On topic from this line down

So once the area and map has been made, further storyline planning or do it mission by mission?

Sure. Make some NPCs in flash in a bladehaven/dragonfableish style. If we like yours more than Kawz we'll probably use them. But if we do like Kawz's more, I think it'd be wise to stay with one artist so that we have the same style for all of them. Unless you guys are both awesome at flash.

Also flaw, that sounds like the plan to me.

Mission One - The Tutorial - Page 9 Empty Re: Mission One - The Tutorial

Post by Darre Tue May 17, 2011 4:09 am

When and IF we get past this mission we have to decide how many more we can realistically make if any at all. Based on how long that is we will develop a fitting storyline. We also have to put into consideration that after the first mission we only have to write and make more art because 90% of it is already coded.

EDIT: Found some tutorials that somebody will probably need at some point.
Menus. Good for those that are going to work on text boxes or the shop interfaces.
How to become a pixel artist. A quick readthrough will make you infinitely better at pixel art.
Icons Pictures of items in the shop or skills during battle would need this.
Another very broadly based tutorial
Swords, shields, potions etc.

EDIT2:Mission One - The Tutorial - Page 9 Moat13
By far the hardest part so far. It was one hundred percent made by me and I am quite proud.
