Re: TR's Cave Adventures
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 1st of Granite.
My fellows and I have arrived at the lair of the mighty beast we are to slay, a cave known only as Dragonrampage. We crept into the cave, weapons in hand. Floor after floor we descended in suspense, until finally, we lay our eyes upon it. Is what I would say if there were a mighty beast, or even any beast in the cave. Instead the cave was empty. What a bust.
I guess we'll just have to hole up in the cave and wait for it to come home so we can kill it. Wow this is inconvenient. We could be out doing something incredibly noble like killing and butchering boars for tusks an old man asked us for, or looting a millenium old ruin and selling the artifacts back to museums who can barely afford it. The king had better be paying a lot of gold for this quest.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 7th of Felsite.
Well, we got all the supplies from our wagon inside. There was a lot more there than I remember there being. The cave isn't all that dark, which is kind of strange. Not sure how that works, but whatever.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 20th of Hematite.
We've been doing some stuff to get ready for the mighty beast's arrival. Tom made a door for the cave to keep out unwanted pests like the elk. Cial made some cage traps with the oak cages we brought to catch the beast in. DigDog has been going around harvesting plants for seeds to grow some food with but without luck so far. I myself have been drawing on the walls. I'm getting kind of good at it actually. It's fun too.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 14th of Malachite.
Some elk got caught in Cial's cage traps today. I don't really understand how they got past the door. I guess elk know how to use doorknobs. That's somewhat disconcerting.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 7th of Galena.
Seven people showed up tonight. I spoke with the woman in charge, a fishery worker. I think her name was Xusha, but it was difficult to tell. She didn't speak English, just Russian, and her translator, a brewer named Tim, wasn't that good at Russian either.
Xusha: Помощь! Изверг гонит нас!
Tim Hortans: She says she is interested in the procurement of any soap that you have available.
Xusha: Вы идиот.
Tim Hortans: Pet rock soap preferably.
It was then that a carpenter, Spooky Amazonukkagdilettante, cut the conversation off and explained the situation better.
Spooky: I think what Xusha is trying to say is that we're the only survivors from our village that was attacked and destroyed by a horrifying monster of shadow. Also, it's chasing us and we led it straight here.
Great.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 8th of Galena.
Only a few hours later, the beast was upon us.
Vamparagon, Erik, Tom, Cial and I all prepared ourselves for the upcoming onslaught. The other nine people, unarmed, stayed behind us in case one of us needed assistance. We stood in suspense in the main entrance to the cave, staring at the door, until finally it burst open, and the most disgusting ungodly fiend any of us had ever laid our eyes upon stood in its frame. I immediately recognized it. The groglurk Istrul Beksurpobe. A megabeast whose name is whispered when discussing things such as nightmares, darkness and llamas.
The groglurk bellowed and charged straight at us. The world seemed to freeze as we stood rooted in absolute terror. And then the groglurk also froze, as one of Cial's cage traps was sprung and it was trapped in an oak cage.
There was silence in the cavern, until finally I burst out laughing. So much for the mighty Istrul Beksurpobe. The rest of the party followed suit shortly after. The seven refugees from earlier did not laugh, but I'm sure they would have have had they not lost their families, homes and friends to the fiend's onslaught earlier.
See that pink L? That's the mighty groglurk.
See that cage? That's the mighty groglurk.
Seriously, it's trapped in a wooden cage.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 20th of Limestone.
Cial's cage traps have STRUCK ONCE MORE and captured a wind dragon. It messed up the door though, so I told Tom to make a new one.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 26th of Limestone.
Six more people showed up today. According to them, they're eager to come live with the protectors of the tundra who "defeated" a groglurk and a dragon. Fortunately, these ones weren't being chased by a megabeast. With them, there are now twenty people living in Dragonrampage. Erik and Vamparagon are starting to expand the caves. It looks like we might be here a while so we could do with some bedrooms.

Re: TR's Cave Adventures
We can make at least one cloak out of the groglurk's hide, but that would involve letting it out of the cage long enough to kill and butcher it.
I don't know about you but until we have things like armor and weapons that seems like a bad idea.

We don't have tigereye, we have someone quick to tire and unquestionably weak with a preference for tigereye.
Re: TR's Cave Adventures
Can't we set the cage on fire with the frighten inside to kill him? The cage is wood so wouldn't it work?

Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, ADAMANTINE PRAISE THE MINERS.
Vamparagon got lost mining today and instead of turning back and following his tunnels home he decided to just keep mining. Eventually he dug pretty deep and found some nice things.
With a magma sea, Chamberino and Void have set up some forges. As for the adamantine, we've never seen anything like this before. It's extremely light, flexible, hard and sharp. I don't think it's good material for Tom and I's weapons because of how light it is, but we should definitely make some armour with it, as well as a sword and shield for Cial. I'm helping Chamberino around the forge by extracting metal strands from the adamantine. This armour is gonna be really super sweeeet. Can't wait.
Oh but of course, leave it to Xusha and Tim though to show up and put a sour note on the whole thing. Xusha preached something in Russian, which Tim translated as: "Adamantine was a device of the gods from the creation of the world that filled gaps in the outer core. Don't mine it, it's the only thing keeping demons from pouring fourth unto the sunlight and slaughtering everyone!"
Yeah right. If this adamantine we found was imprisoning demons I don't understand how someone as unquestionably weak as Vamparagon managed to break through it like it was butter with nothing more than a bronze pick.
...Then again we have a groglurk stuck in an oak cage so maybe she's not that crazy.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 11th of Opal.
DigDog approached me today and informed me that he had diagnosed everyone with "being hungry and thirsty". Thanks a lot DigDog. A quick look at the food stockpile shows that the reason is because... Well, we're all out of food and drinks. I immediately gave the order to butcher anything we had caught in cage traps excluding the dragon and groglurk, and sent teams down into the lowest caverns and pick plants for Tim to turn into drinks.
We're actually holding up pretty well now. It looks like Dragonrampage will survive to see another day. I'm kind of disappointed we ran out to begin with though. I mean, I sent a carrier pigeon to Battleon. You'd think a supply caravan would have shown up by now.
Peregrine "Doublemace" Falcon's Journal, 21st of Obsidian.
Some thieves showed up today. A mix of dwakels, centaurions and sneevils. We caught the centaurions in our cage traps but it seems the dwakels and sneevils made it through. Hmph. As an apology for the failure of his cage traps, Cial took it upon himself to hunt down and beat every single thief to death.
To help secure the entrance from anything that might get through in the future I've tied the assaultmecha we brought with us up in one of the entrance hallways with a llama wool rope we had lying around. I'd like to see a sneevil or dwakel get past that.

The B to the far left is the forgotten beast.
What the crap is that thing. Seriously. What the crap.
Anyway, it doesn't look like it can actually do anything up there on that alcove. Gonna get Chamb to whip up some iron arrows with the ore we're found that's just lying around and try out that artifact crossbow. If that doesn't work then we're just going to have to wait until the adamantine armour project finishes.

Re: TR's Cave Adventures
I don't want to move the assaultmecha right now because I'm not sure if we got all the thieves and I don't want them getting away with something valuable like the adamantine, which we need. The wind dragon however is being tamed and trained into a war wind dragon and will be assisting us.
